Located near the famous Bokor Hill station and base of the green Elephant Mountains, this province is called Kampot Province. It has an eighty kilometer long coastal strip with Gulf of Thailand. You can also visit the small town of Kampot, five kilometers inland from sea, situated on Tuk Chou River. Farming and fishing are the main source of occupation in this village. One of the famous restaurant Prachummith Restaurants is located near the Amar restaurant, GPO and telecommunications building is located to the south of the town, near the river. Central market, where you will find lots of varieties of food stalls, is located at the north end of the town. All types of transportations are available near the market, so that you don’t get tired of walking. In further north a railway station is located which is not used nowadays.
Kampot can be visited throughout the year. However the one who likes to travel extensively by road should avoid coming in the last two months of monsoon. Tourists need not to fear natural disasters such as earthquakes and volcanoes erupting and also this place is not directly affected by tropical storms. #1. PREK THNOUT
It is a Community based Ecotourism Site. It is located between the Preah Sihanouk provinces, in Kampot. The Prek Thnot is partially situated within the Bokor national park and can be reached by using many forms of transportation like taxi, minibus; bus. You can walk along the boardwalk of mangrove forests leading to waterfalls. You can also hire a guide to know about the local traditions, ceremonies and the environment in general. You can also swim in the streams or learn more about non timber products such as rattan and bamboo which are grown in Kampot region.
#2. KOH TONSAY
If you are a lover of the rustic beachcomber lifestyle, Koh Tonsay main beach is for you. It doesn’t have sparkling white sand, but still it is one of the nicest island present in Cambodia. This island contains wandering cows and chickens, shorefront flotsam, restaurant shack, rudimentary bungalows. It also has boats which can carry you to the rabbit island and also can drop you back.
